Settling In

The trip across the border was uneventful. I got more questions leaving KZ than I did getting into KG. My driver had a bit of trouble finding my Air BnB since it’s tucked away in what passes as residential suburbia here in Bishkek, but we figured it out. My host, Ben, showed me around the property and then drove me around the area and down toward the center of the city for dinner. Turns out it was about a block away from where I stayed last time Imade my border run so I was quasi familiar with the area.

I have my choice between a narrow, softer bed and a firmer couch with more room. Trying the couch for the last couple of nights and my back isn’t complaining yet.

Today was a 180 degree switch from yesterday’s rain and clouds so I walked a few blocks for some groceries. I figure it will be an every few days kind of thing since I can only buy what I can carry back.

I’ve had my lunch and now I’ll be sitting down to hopefully get 200 words or so done before I fix dinner.

Miss my 12th floor apartment and easy access to coffee shops and convenience store, but mostly I miss the company.
